Sulochana Manandhar has graduated with a master’s degree in medical microbiology from the Central Department of Microbiology, Tribhuvan University in 2009. Since then, she has been working as a Laboratory Manager/ Senior Research Associate at CMDN. Utilizing her years of lab and management experiences, she leads the laboratory in all aspects to makes sure an efficient and timely accomplishment of overall molecular based projects of CMDN. She has received several national and international trainings in techniques of molecular biology, population genetics, microbial genetics, immunehistochemistry, epidemiology and statistics. She has been involvement in researches/diagnostics in various fields including biomedical science, public health, conservation biology, veterinary science and cancer biology. She has published several manuscripts in peer reviewed high indexed journals.

Nikita Pradhan has been working at CMDN as a Project Coordinator since November of 2016. She got her degree in B.Sc. Environmental Science (Honors) from Kathmandu University on December of 2016. At CMDN, along with doing work as a project coordinator, she also works as an Executive Assistant for the Executive Director, worked as a Research Intern for Nepal Fish Biodiversity Project, works as a coordinator for PREDICT Nepal Project, works as an internship coordinator for International students for the Internship Program, and organizes in-house and international workshops and conferences. She used to work as a volunteer for Clean up Nepal and Himalayan Climate Initiative where she participated in rallies like banning of plastic bags and clean-up campaigns.

Ajay Narayan Sharma completed his MSc in Biotechnology from HNB Garhwal University Srinagar, India in 2012. After that he started to work as Research Associate at CMDN/INPL in the Molecular Biology lab. With his expertise in Wildlife Molecular Genetics, Wildlife forensics and interests in virology he enthusiastically piloted various Wildlife projects and DNA bar-coding project at CMDN. He has received various training on GIS, DNA Sequencing and other Molecular techniques from Leiden University, The Netherlands. He has co-authored various research articles in peer reviewed journals. Currently, he is involved in PREDICT project, eDNA Metabarcoding and FISH DNA BARCODING projects.

Adarsh Man Sherchan graduated in the applied sciences (Biotechnology) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia. He joined CMDN in 2013 as Research Associate and has been Wildlife Genetics Program Manager since early 2014. He is vastly experienced in the molecular genetics of Nepali Wildlife (small and large mammals such as Tigers, Snow Leopards, Wolfs, Elephants etc,) and also specializes in molecular forensics with over 15 projects successfully completed thus far. Sherchan is currently involved in both the field and lab setup of the Nepal Fish Biodiversity Project.

Brian Galloway has a degree in Bio-Technology from the University of Massachusetts and has worked on several projects including the original draft of the Human Genome and the first FDA approved human recombinant for implantation (OP-1, Stryker). He also has nearly 13 years with The Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School working on various genetic studies alongside and with the Broad Institute, where he enjoys Visiting Scientist status and the great parties.

His current foci are teaching various levels (grade 4 to PhD and M.D.) of Nepali students to meet the practical challenges of a science based society and economy, vaccine manufacture/stabilization and remotely operated sensing platforms for earthquake/disaster recovery. He currently lives in Kathmandu, Nepal and works at the Center for Molecular Dynamics Nepal and the Rajashri Gurukel in Bhaktapur as the science lab instructor.

Nagendra P. Awasthi has graduated in M.Sc Biotechnology from Central Department of Biotechnology - Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, Nepal. He got an opportunity to explore Evolutionary and Medical Genetics at Center for Cellular and Molecular biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, India alongside Dr. K. Thangaraj, studying evolutionary human genetics in his lab. He is currently the Sr. Research Associate at Center for Molecular Dynamics Nepal (CMDN). He actively leads molecular public health projects and is also involved in molecular diagnostics of different viral diseases such as HIV, HCV, HBV and HPV etc. He specializes in Bioinformatics Analysis related to forensic, metagenomics and other wildlife genetic projects. He has received National and International training in Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, Research Design and Analysis.

Jyoti Joshi is a M.Sc. graduate in Biotechnology from Mahidol University, Thailand and has published in the Journal of Aquaculture. She has worked as Research Assistant at the Center for shrimp Molecular Biology and Biotechnology specializing in pathogen detection, diagnosis and histopathology studies. She is currently a Research Associate at CMDN, with expertise in Wildlife research covering genetic based wildlife population studies, Wildlife Forensics’ and Primary screening of cervical cancer with HPV 16/ 18 genotyping based public health research. Jyoti currently heads the lab research of Nepal Fish Biodiversity Project (www.fish.org.np).

Jyotsna Joshi is a master degree graduate in Agriculture Biotechnology from Mahidol University, Thailand. She worked as a Graduate Researcher for one year at Chiba University, Japan. With 4 years of Biotechnology educational knowledge, she has gradually refined the plant cell tissue culture techniques, hydroponic system techniques and molecular biology techniques. With her expertise in the research field, she has been working as a Research Associate at CMDN undertaking PREDICT projects and also a part of Wildlife genetics projects.

Anup Lamsal joined CMDN in 2016 as a Lab Assistant. He has worked as a Field Support Staff in Integrated Biological Behavior Survey (IBBS) conducted by Government of Nepal and CMDN. He is currently pursuing his Bachelors Degree and hopes to use this knowledge for further work in CMDN.

Bimala Dhakal graduated from Central Department of Biotechnology,Tribhuvan University Nepal.Since 2016 . She is working for the project ''Nepal Fish Biodiveristy Project' as a Research Associate at Centre for Molecular Dynamics Nepal. She has also been involved in various wildlife Genetics Projects and Public Health Projects such as Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) screening and HPV testing in HIV- infected women in Nepal for improved detection and management.

Roshan Nepal graduated with a degree in Biotechnology from Central Department of Biotechnology, Tribhuvan University in 2016 and has a keen interest in antimicrobial stewardship and research on alternative solutions to antimicrobial resistance. He joined CMDN in 2017 and is primarily involved with the PREDICT project. He is also working on projects like Wildlife Conservation Genetics, Influenza A Subtyping, Rabies and Canine Distemper Virus Surveillance.

Mr. Nepal is also volunteering as a ‘Young Ambassador of Science (2016-2019)’ at American Society for Microbiology, an ‘Ambassador of Good Practice in Science (2018)’ at eLife and an ‘Elsevier Student Ambassador (2018)’ at Elsevier. Heworks to support causes like open access/science, science communication, and evidence-based policies to protect us from preventable diseases (both genetic and infectious) in resource-limited settings.

When he is not catching ‘viruses’ in the lab, you may find him cozying up with a good book in his cubicle.

He is currently a Research Associate at CMDN undertaking PREDICT II projects, Canine distemper study in dogs along with work on 3D printing to make prosthetic hands.

Jessie Moravek graduated with honors from Northwestern University in 2016 with degrees in Environmental Science and Biology. Jessie first came to Nepal in June 2016 on a Henry Luce Fellowship and worked on a biodiversity and water quality project in the Parvati Kunda wetland in Gatlang, Rasuwa. She started working at CMDN in January 2018 and is the project coordinator for the Carnivore Disease Project (CDP). CDP is an initiative to track and genetically characterize canine distemper and rabies viruses in street dogs and wildlife in Bhaktapur municipality. Jessie also helps with the Nepal Fish Biodiversity Project and all upcoming projects related to fish and aquatic ecosystems.
