Dibesh Karmacharya

Chairman / Executive Director

Dibesh Karmacharya has a Conservation Biology degree from the Wayne State College (USA) and a PhD on Conservation and Microbiome Genetics from the Griffith University (Australia). He worked on transgenic animal models at Caliper Lifesciences (USA) as a research scientist. He promoted Genomics and Proteomics technology platforms for GE Healthcare Lifesciences in the US and Canada. He is the founder/chair of the Center for Molecular Dynamics Nepal, a wildlife genetics and clinical epidemiology research center. He also founded Intrepid Nepal Pvt. Ltd.-a molecular diagnostics-based Biotechnology Company, and Intrepid Cancer Diagnostics-a leading cancer diagnostic laboratory. He is Founder/Director of BIOVAC Nepal- a vaccine research, development and manufacturing company. He leads several innovative research on environment, health and agro sectors. He has been developing “Early Warning System” for infectious diseases through innovative One Health based genomics environmental surveillance. He is an adjunct Research Fellow at the School of the Environment – University of Queensland (Australia), and currently supervises PhD students.

Dr. Sameer Dixit

Director of Research

Sameer M Dixit, PhD, is a research scientist with a background of working on biomedical research in public health sector. He has been working for almost a decade in Public Health, and has over 15 years’ experience in basic/applied science, in various forms of academic and programmatic research of public health importance- usually as Team Leader/ Principle Investigator. He was previously an academician in Nepal’s reputed university (4+ years), is currently a visiting faculty in School of Biotechnology and Life Sciences at South Asian University, India. He has worked as national consultant in various projects in the area of communicable diseases. He has published a reference text book and has authored numerous international and national peer reviewed scientific journal articles. His work experience has allowed him to help CMDN and its affiliates develop working relationships with various national and international organizations including those in India, Pakistan, Bhutan and Bangladesh. Dr. Dixit’s strength is in planning and implementing biomedical health research in infectious/communicable diseases of public health importance in developing countries.

Rajesh Man Rajbhandari

Program Director

Rajesh Man Rajbhandari, PhD, is a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience in the fields of wildlife, biodiversity, public health, and social research. Rajesh is the Program Director of the Centre for Molecular Dynamics Nepal (Nepal), and he specializes in studying wildlife diseases, environmental health, and social behavioral compositions. He is also involved in the monitoring and evaluation of operational research. Rajesh’s expertise has been instrumental in research collaborations with esteemed international and national organizations, including WHO, SAVE, FHI, USAID, UCDAVIS, Oxford, different international universities, the Gates Foundation, and different Nepalese government institutions. His valuable research findings have been published in several peer-reviewed journals, showcasing his extensive knowledge in One Health.

Rajesh Bajracharya

International Coordinator

Rajesh Bajracharya is our International Coordinator based out of Toronto, Canada and one of our founding members of CMDN. He has over 20 years of progressive experience in project management and information technology successfully leading project teams deliver complex quality products and services in different industry sectors including healthcare. With his expertise in the IT field, he supports executive team to make decisions on leveraging the latest innovative technologies to improve on existing tools and platforms and ensure maximum business efficiency and growth of both CMDN and INPL. He provides his strong leadership and management skills with his expertise in developing highly productive teams that can effectively liaise with cross functional groups building strong team relationships.

Piya Vajracharya completed her Masters in HR from Tribhuvan University. She started working at CMDN from 2019. She has been handling all the Human Resource management of CMDN- INPL – ICD daily activities and ongoing projects.
